Christianity and what it means to me
There is no other subject with such a diverse array of opinions as faith. Christian, Catholic, Mormon, Islam, Bhuddist...the list goes on and on. In today's society, you are what you believe, but belief should be more than just a label. Our lives shouldn't take to the spotlight, with God waiting backstage for when we have time. As Christians, our faith in God should be what shapes our lives. Christianity has many different elements, but I'd like to elaborate on the three main aspects of Christianity in my life.
KNOW GOD~
Imagine your mother calling you. How do you know it's her? The same way penguin babies find their parents among thousands. You recognise her voice. But if you have never spoken to your mother, identifying her by her voice alone would be impossible. It is the same with God. Spending time with our Maker is a crucial element of forming a bond. Reading your Bible or praying for at just ten minutes a day is a great start, and soon those ten minutes will be the highlight of your day.
OBEY GOD~
I heard a story once, about a woman who stood up during church, walked to the front and started doing cartwheels. People were shocked and confused, until someone else stood and told the community that he had promised God to try and follow Him, but only if someone at church did a cartwheel. God works through us, not because He needs to, but because He loves us. Listen to what God tells you and be fearless in your service.
TRUST GOD~
Luke 1:37 declares that no word from God will ever fail. And what does God's word tell us? That He will protect us from danger and guide us through trouble. Trusting God can be difficult at first, but soon you'll see that He is with you, no matter what.
There is a reason the Bible is the most read book ever: Good never changes. The God who protected Paul, loved David and commended Moses all those years ago, lives inside of each of us if we let Him. Never doubt God and see him in everything; He loves us more than anyone ever can.
